Welcome to Route 39. We, Sven and Thomas, are delighted to welcome you! During one of our holidays in southern France we were guests at a bed & breakfast. The homely and relaxed ambiance convinced us to offer a similar service in Zürich so we decided to start a small bed & breakfast of our own.
As we already were looking for our dream house we decided to build two apartments, so we could live in one and offer the other to our guests.
We found our dream house in the Höngg quarter, situated in the direct vicinity of the Werdinsel - an island in the Limmat river - at the foot of the Hönggerberg, with a beautiful view of the Uetliberg, the city and the Alps.
We hope you’ll enjoy our house as much as we do, and we’re looking forward to welcome you as our guest! Route 69 is member of “Bed and Breakfast Switzerland” and GastroSuisse.

The house was originally built as a single family home in 1926. Eventually the building was divided into two small apartments. The lower floor, with access to the garden, was used as basement. In the 1960’s a large part of the surrounding property was sold and the garden became so small that it was almost unusable. The house was then being used as a single family home again, until it was bought by us in 2008.
The challenge was to enlarge the property in such a way that it could house two apartments. We decided to extend the east wing of the house with 3 meters and to create two duplex apartments. As a result, the guesthouse on the top floor has a beautiful terrace - situated on the roof of the new wing - with lots of sun.
In February 2010, after 10 months of construction, we moved into our new home.

Rooms

Our bed & breakfast has 3 beautiful, individually decorated rooms. In each room you’ll find a king size bed (width 160cm, individual mattresses), a wardrobe and a small desk, suitable for writing or to place a laptop. Each room is equipped with Wireless Internet, an LCD TV with satellite receiver, and an alarm clock with iPod charger. Ample towels are at your disposal as is a blow-dryer. Smoking is only allowed at the outdoor areas.

London

Room “London” is our smallest room. It has a south-facing window, and the bathroom - which is shared with room “Berlin” - is situated right across the corridor.

Berlin

Room “Berlin” - like the other rooms - is decorated with pictures that are typical of the city. It has a small but sunny, south facing balcony. The bathroom is shared with room “London”.

Paris

Room “Paris” also has a private, south facing balcony. This room is our biggest and has a luxuriously equipped bathroom - accessible through sliding doors - with double washbasins.

Lounge

The bright lounge is home to the kitchen and the living-/dining room. Here breakfast is served from 7 o’clock on. You’re invited to enjoy breakfast on the terrace, which is accessible from the lounge. In the kitchen you’ll find our “Kiosk”, where drinks and snacks are available for a small charge.

Terrace

On our sunny terrace you can enjoy a beautiful day - two chaises are at your disposal as is a small lounge seating area, suitable for having breakfast.

Breakfast

The breakfast buffet is available in the lounge between 7:00h (7 AM) and 12:00h (12 PM). Feel free to serve yourself with a selection of fresh bread (partly home-made), cheese, cold cuts, cornflakes, eggs and fruit. You can choose between coffee, chocolate milk and a variety of tea to accompany your meal. Please inform us timely of any nutritional preferences and we will try to accommodate your wishes.
